| Tbe station is set up on pillars so that drifts blow under and through rather than collecting, as they do with the dome. The pillars are bolted to a rigid steel frame that rests on wide wooden footings. Nevertkeless, the station has been sinking at 12 cm /yr, three times faster than the anticipated rate.
